faces of Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is most famous for its incredible cultural diversity – with a population of 8 million people there are more than 820 languages that stem from 100 different cultural groups. The country is known for its cultural festivals where this rich diversity is celebrated through the wearing of traditional attire and performances.

While these festivals are truly exceptional, what I find even more entrancing are the faces behind this, the every day people that simply live their lives out in the village. Each of these people have their own histories and life experiences, their loves and losses, their triumphs and failures, their own unique story that is intrinsically woven into the magic of the land.
