Culture is not background, it is knowledge  accumulated over generations, embedded in language, land, ceremony, and practice. It is often the first thing lost when the world changes too fast, and among the most important things to protect.

I have been privileged to spend time with people whose cultures run deep, reminding us of a different way of being. This work is a tribute to those people, and to the extraordinary diversity of human culture that makes our world what it is.
