UN NEGOTIATIONS
The human dynamics behind multilateralprocesses and environmental diplomacy

I have been photographically documenting the majority of UN negotiation processes relating to the environment and development since 2014. Covering topics such as climate change, biodiversity, chemicals management, agriculture, wildlife, the Ocean, plastic pollution, and the Sustainable Development Goals, I have documented the full architecture of how the world tries to govern itself in relation to the environment.
These processes are often described as technical, impenetrable, sometimes even boring, but I disagree. When you strip away the acronyms and procedural language, what you find is something deeply human people under pressure, trying to reach agreement on things that matter enormously, in a space that brings the whole world together. That’s what this work tries to show: not the process as a system, but the process as human experience.
